The role of the conscience is ideas of what is right and what is wrong. Those ideas can push us to good or evil. And the difference between good and evil is God and Satan.
We have the choice to repent and turn to God and freely choose Him. God calls to many in the Bible. He called to those who were disobedient and brought them back to Him. Jesus called to Paul on the road to Damascus. And yet there are those who turn away from God, as Jezebel did.
βI have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling.β (Revelation 2:21)
Though we have a choice, we are held accountable. Salvation is a relationship with God that gives us responsibility. God will know when we will receive the gospel. God glorifies and justifies. When we became a believer, we died to sin, but sin and flesh is a problem. Satan is a problem, as he is the ruler of this world, one of many names.
“I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me. “Come now; let us leave.” (John 14: 30-31)

It is God calling on us to have faith in Him and respond to Him. It’s His invitation to us. This is Grace. What we do with that call and how we respond is up to us. As Jezebel, on her own will, did not choose God. God does not choose on the basis of works, but on faith. The truth about God should change our mind and our behavior.
Paul makes the point that God’s election cannot be “by works.” “So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace” (Romans 11:5-6). This quote is related to Romans 9.

Does your conscience push you to good or evil? Don’t let Satan rule your life. Know the difference between good and evil. Let us have the mind of Jesus. Choose Jesus and respond to Him.
