When we think about next year or the next five years, what comes to mind? We want to plan! Maybe you want to build a home, start a family or retire and enjoy the warmer weather. There’s nothing wrong with planning, but we cannot be certain about the plan or what the future holds for us, but we plan anyway. We make decisions on what we want in our life and those decisions can be good or bad. But is the plan we have for ourselves good? Is it God’s plan? We have the freedom to choose. We have the choice to obey, trust and love God or go our own way and miss the plan for our future.
We do not know what will happen, but God does! God knows everything. He knows your past, your future and He knows what you will say before you say it. Our plans are not always our plans because our life is already planned out. God had this thought out before you were born because it is His plan.
But is the plan we have for ourselves good? Is it God’s plan?
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)
We may be uncertain about what our plans are or what we should do, but we should never be uncertain about our Lord. We should never be afraid because God is with us and He is faithful to us. Those future plans will work out if only you have trust in God. No need to worry. Worry causes more worry and more worry causes fear. We can plan, but the Lord will direct. We do not have total control. You may say it is not fair, but life is not always fair. Don’t think that God’s designs and desires for us is against us. It is completely opposite, it is for our good. God sees everything that has happened in your life and He sees your future.
"In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps." (Proverbs 16:9)
Believers should put all their confidence in the Lord and know that He will lead us in the right direction. God is so loving and He is righteous. Let your steps be guided by His Spirit and grace. You were created by God and for Him. Submit yourself over to Him and know your life, your future can be joyful with the promises God has made for you. God is the ONLY one who can save you. If you know God as your Lord and Savior and have been born again you will be saved. Take that walk with God, hold His hand. He has your future.
We do not know what the future holds or what will happen in five years, but we do have a choice. I encourage you to know God, have a relationship with Him so you can know your future. Don’t go your own way and miss the plan. Follow God’s plan and know that HE is the right plan for your future.
