Thinking of your body as a temple is not something we usually think about. I used to think of a temple as a huge building of some sort.
Your body is a temple. “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
We should not choose to treat our bodies however we want. We are created in the image of God and our bodies are temples. Now, we have God’s Spirit living in us because of Jesus. The temple we have should not be violated, because what we have came from Jesus.
Living as a Christian is not just how we follow God or how we think about living holy. It is also thinking about our bodies and how we treat ourselves. Our bodies are a gift from God and we should treat it as a gift. There are people who say “we have the right to do anything” and many do. “The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.” (1 Corinthians 6:13)
We must treat our bodies as a temple, but how do we do that and honor God?
- Eat healthy
- Get plenty of sleep
- Be positive
- Worship God
- Use your body for the glory of God
Lastly, we have the fear of the coronavirus and we are in a National Emergency because of it. We must do our best to stay healthy, eat right and take care of our bodies. Wave to others from a distance and take the necessary precautions.
Most of all we must stay strong in our faith. These are devastating times and people are grieving and desperate. This is exactly what Satan wants. He wants us to have fear of the unknown and lose focus on God. I have said this before and I will say it again. Please, if you haven’t already, please repent and give yourself to God. You do not want to have an everlasting separation from Him.
