I remember when I was younger and the days would last forever. My parents worked full time and my older siblings would watch over me. I don’t recall them really watching me because I still did things I wanted to. Back then I wanted to play outside with friends until sunset. It was all about me and what I wanted to do, but it didn’t last long. Riding bikes, rollerskating and playing games were things of the past.
Now, decades later and with adult girls of my own, I try to find that “me time” again. But when I think of time for myself, I now include God. Don’t get me wrong, I still read, exercise, meet with friends and take time for family, but I also put God first and focus on Him.
As I myself have grown, being in the presence of friends now is wonderful. We share our faith together, talk about our families and how God is our foundation in life. Exercise is important to me for overall health and wellness. My family is very important, and being together with them means so much to me.
After being with everyone and doing a few things on my own time, I still need my “me time” with God. I need to be in the presence of God and seek Him in prayer. “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13) I find peace in knowing that I can seek God and speak to Him in my own time. God already knows our thoughts before we speak, but when we take personal time to remain in His Word and follow, we are blessed!
