This year, as any other year, starts with new beginnings. Most people have a resolution of weight loss, eating less sweets or finding a better job. And yes, there is nothing wrong with those at all, but what if the one thing you can do is the easiest and kindest of all. Give yourself!
Jesus came to earth in human likeness to serve, not to be served. “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Philippians 2:3-4. If we can make any change at all, it should be to give ourselves and serve others.
In 1 John 4:19, “We love because he first loved us” brings so much joy to me. Knowing that the love we have can be shown and brought to others in knowing God. We glorify Him by working for Christ. We look for joy, patience, perseverance and grace as we are faithful to God.
What are your plans this year? Think about giving yourself. I can’t think of a better gift, not only for those your serving, but for the joy it will bring for you and to God.
